2 Broke Twimbos Sneak Into Electric Arena & Electric Distrikt
A few months ago two brave young men embarked on a noble quest into the heart of Harare's deep and dark enclaves. This quest would have them encounter many perils, pitfalls and pestilences, but some way, somehow they pulled through and managed to survive. Their quest was of course to attend Electric Arena at the Harare Showgrounds.
For the uninitiated, Electric Arena was Zimbabwe's first indoor EDM Festival, organized by Electric Concepts. The event would have Zimbabwean table-turners like Rob Macson and RayDizz performing with international acts Pascal & Pearce, SauBomb, Kyle Worde and Rocca & Martini. Dan and Phil managed to sneak their way in and gather some footage and interviews. Sadly, due to reasons beyond their control (read as an “unreliable cameraman lost some of this footage”). But they were able to piece what they recovered together for this highlight reel.
After making friends with the bouncers at Electric Arena, Dan and Phil also found a way to sneak into Electric Distrikt which was a follow up event to Electric Arena. A slightly smaller affair held at The Glass House which had Chris Taylor as the headline international act. Both Electric Arena and Electric Distrikt were well organized affairs. The EDM scene in Zimbabwe is still young but growing rapidly and it's great to see people willing to invest in the culture and hold events outside of night clubs that aren't the outdoor festivals we have become accustomed to.
In the final live episode of the year, Dan & Phil unite with half of lil bro podcast 6Ft Weights to review the biggest stories of the year and give each other an opportunity to revise our takes at the time. What was the best song in the Drake - Kendrick beef? Was Chidimma Adetshina really a victim of xenophobia as we said at first? Are you still mad at Learnmore Jonasi? Anyone walking back what they said about Jay-Z? And a whole lot more in this fun episode, enjoy!
