All in Places We Snuck Into
A few months ago two brave young men embarked on a noble quest into the heart of Harare's deep and dark enclaves. This quest would have them encounter many perils, pitfalls and pestilences, but some way, somehow they pulled through and managed to survive. Their quest was of course to attend Electric Arena at the Harare Showgrounds.
Barely having any time to recover from the long tiring walk home from the Toni Braxton & Babyface show the previous night, Dan & Phil found themselves cutting a hole in the fence around Belgravia Sports Club to get into the Davido show. The pauperized pair arrived bright and early at 10:00pm, 7 hours after the gates were opened for the show. It was apparent from as far as the Avondale area that the numbers at this concert were immense.
It was a dark Friday night, thanks to ZESA. Tired of being stuck at Casa De Broke and playing “I spy” in pitch black darkness – Dan & Phil decided to hop on their unicycle and peddle furiously to the Borrowdale race course where American R&B legends Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Toni “Tonderai” Braxton had somehow been convinced to perform in Harare.
Being big fans of any event that they can sneak into for free, Phil & Dan are extremely excited about the newest Electronic Dance Music festival in town, Electric Arena.
The brains behind this event is Zimbabwean EDM DJ & producer, Rob Macson (to listen to the Rob Macson episode, click here) who has called it Zimbabwe's largest indoor EDM festival. On the bill to perform are 4 international acts and 7 local acts
On a rainy December night Dan & I rustled up the little cents we had and made our way to the Zimbabwean Hip Hop Awards. After sweet talking several combi hwindis and doing things we would rather not repeat, we arrived at the Wing Wah International Restaurant , Casino, Conference Centre

On a cold Harare night, I made my way to the Borrowdale Race Course in my uncle's unreliable 323. No I had not turned to eating horse meat to sustain my hungry self – though stallion steak does sound like a good idea. Britain seemed to love its horse meat mince pies.
Put out a flyer and host a welcome-back dinner for us because Dan & Phil return to the podcast after a brief hiatus! There’s a lot to catch up on, from a review of the BET Awards, to the furore surrounding Madam Boss attending, and even a conversation on nepotism after Saweetie asked people to stop calling her a nepo baby.
